This position is located in Memphis, Linden and Jackson, TN. The Overnight Youth Counselor is the heart and soul of our residential treatment programs. Staff members in this position are responsible for the daily physical care of the young people on our residential campuses. They help design and implement each child's treatment plan and improve their behavior. Youth Villages' residential campuses are located in beautiful natural surroundings. Children live in cottages with 8 to 12 children of similar ages and with similar problems. Each cottage is supervised by a professional group of staff, which includes a master's-level counselor, overnight youth counselors and night monitors. Children also have access to a psychiatrist, nurses and other specialized staff. Every campus includes its own accredited school, nursing station, a gym, pool and other modern amenities. Overnight Youth Counselors work from 6:30am to 10:30pm one weekend day and 2:00pm to 10:30pm three days during the week. The Overnight Youth Counselor spends the night once or twice a week and has additional responsibility for waking the residents and directing them with their morning routine. This schedule also provides counselors with a three day weekend. Youth Villages also offer tuition and licensure reimbursement, full health benefits, wellness programs (ie: Weight Watchers) and many other benefits for our staff. In addition to professional and personal growth opportunities, we provide a week-long orientation with certification in crisis prevention and CPR, on-the-job training, 2 weeks of field supervision and refresher trainings throughout the year.
