Position Opening: Director of Library Services

Opportunity:

Director of Library Services

Bryan College:

Located in Dayton, Tennessee (30 minutes north of metro Chattanooga), Bryan is a Christ-centered liberal arts college which is evangelical, non-denominational, and regionally accredited. The College’s purpose is to educate students to become servants of Christ to make a difference in today’s world. Faculty are selected on the basis of experience, educational credentials, compatibility with the mission and goals of the College, and an evident, personal commitment to its motto ~ “Christ above all.” Bryan is an equal opportunity employer that values a diverse work environment; women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

Position:

Bryan seeks a Director of Library Services to provide leadership for its library in support of a growing traditional and non-traditional student population. Initial rank and salary are dependent upon credentials and previous experience; a master’s degree is required. The Director holds faculty rank, has responsibility on faculty and college committees, and will participate in the spiritual and social life of the College.

The successful applicant will have strong management skills, experience in all facets of library operations, a customer-service orientation, and a “roll-up-your-sleeves and get it done” attitude. He or she will be a hands-on partner in the operation of the library, sharing in delivery of instruction and reference service, and performance of technical services tasks (with particular responsibility for ensuring that the needs of the institution’s burgeoning graduate programs are met).

Application:

A letter of interest and curriculum vitae should be sent electronically to the email address given below. Materials submitted must include a personal testimony of faith in Christ, the Bryan application for faculty appointment (see: www.bryan.edu/4769.html), and a philosophy of education that incorporates a summary of how the candidate uses a biblical foundation for instruction and work within the discipline. The College will then selectively contact candidates as needed to request additional information (transcripts, references, etc.). Materials will be reviewed as they are received, and the projected start date is summer 2008.
