Welcome
Dear Prospective Student,
Thank you for your inquiry concerning Bryan College and the psychology department. The professors in the psychology department operate according to the practitioner-professor model, meaning that we actually do what we teach as professional psychologists. We think that this model definitely enriches the student’s academic experience.
Our program at Bryan is heavily counseling-oriented with unique courses at the undergraduate level in group dynamics and counseling techniques.
Our approach to teaching psychology is with a Christian worldview and from a distinctively biblical and integrative perspective. We are more than psychologists who happen to be Christians. We are Christians first who are training others how to surgically apply God’s truth to a particular person’s need at a particular time in their life. We use top-notch secular texts in the field as well as integrative texts written by Christian professionals.
Our graduates have great success in getting into graduate schools and completing advanced degrees. We also have a good relationship with a Christian graduate school in Chattanooga, Psychological Studies Institute, that uniquely blends advance training in counseling with spiritual formation and soul care leading to master level licensure as a licensed professional counselor in Tennessee and Georgia.
We are excited about the ways in which God has blessed our commitment to Biblical integration in the teaching of psychology and stand ready to assist you in such training if the Lord leads you to be a student here at Bryan.
