In men’s action, the Bryan Lions (3-17, 2-9) looked close to upsetting the conference leading Bluefield Rams (16-7, 10-1) after a 41-40 first half.

“We were trailing by one at the half. Offensively, we moved the ball and shared the ball well,” men’s coach Don Rekoske said. “We played pretty well for much of the game, but had a four-minute stretch where we didn’t take care of the basketball.”

That stretch came in the second half, where Bluefield outscored Bryan 45-33.

Lion senior Versell Wells netted 28 points and 10 rebounds, followed by classmates Tyler Cooke with 18 points and Jerome Stancil with 12.

The Lions will travel to Montreat College this Saturday with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
