Summers Gymnasium, completed in the 1969-70 school year, was in need of major renovations/additions to accommodate the growing numbers of students involved in varsity, junior varsity, and intramural sports programs. So in 2006-2008, the following projects were completed:
Renovations: converted the office area into a fitness area; built a new facade giving it an appearance compatible with other campus buildings; installed HVAC units to heat and cool the courts and spectator bleachers; renovated existing locker rooms, public restrooms, and laundry and uniform storage areas; and built a concession stand on the mezzanine level.
Addition on the west side of Summers: a one-story facility that houses the athletic training area and includes a locker room for visiting referees, a storage room for team equipment, and a complete athletic training facility, including offices for our athletic trainers, two soaking tubs for athletes, and a full complement of athletic training exercise equipment and work tables. The practice gym, which is housed in a separate building from the Summers Gymnasium, includes two floors and provides much-needed space for the intercollegiate teams that use the gym in the fall. Practice Gym Photos »
