Bryan Beats Covenant

The Bryan men's basketball team opened their season on the road with an exciting 65-61 win over rival Covenant College.

Bryan jumped off to a 10-0 lead but fouls midway through the first half got them in some trouble. Covenant executed well late in the half and led 29-27 at the break.

Covenant led again at 43-38 with 13 minutes to play but Bryan tightened the screws defensively the rest of the way and Versell Wells made some big scores to seal the win.

Jessie Grilley made the most important play of the game with 31 seconds remaining , getting a steal. He sealed the win with two freethrows with 8.8 seconds remaining. Bryan travels to King College on Tuesday.

Versell Wells had 23 points and 6 rebounds. Ahmahl Amedu had 13 points, 3 assists, Gabe Johnson had 10 points while Nick Hansen had 8 points and 5 rebounds.
