The Bryan family was saddened this morning (Aug. 30) to learn of the death of junior Meaghan Rhea Jones, of Chattanooga, Monday night.

Meaghan Jones
Meaghan, a communication studies major with a political communications option, was a commuter student, living with her parents in Chattanooga. In a posting on his Facebook page, her father, Pat Jones, said Meaghan became ill Monday night. While taking her to the hospital, she stopped breathing and could not be revived.

Bryan President Dr. Stephen D. Livesay encouraged the extended Bryan family to pray for Meaghan’s brother, Josh, who also attended Bryan, for her parents, and the rest of her family.

“While we mourn her departure and will miss her very much, we are comforted by God’s Word,” Dr. Livesay said.  “Paul told us, ‘But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep (I Thessalonians 4:13-14).

“Please take some time throughout the day to ask for God’s special grace on Meaghan’s family.”

There will be a memorial gathering for Meaghan at 7:30 p.m. today in the Grassy Bowl. There will be time for corporate and individual prayer and reflection, as well as an opportunity to share memories of Meaghan.
