Faculty News - November 2008

Drs. Paul Boling, Jud Davis, Scott Jones, Doug Kennard, Drew Randle and Ken Turner
 attended the national Evangelical Theological Society meeting November 19-21, Providence, Rhode Island. Members of the Biblical Studies faculty presented the following papers:
  • Dr. Davis - “Acts 2 and the Old Testament: The Pentecost Event in Light of Sinai, Babel, and the Table of Nations”
  • Dr. Kennard - “Instances of Covenant Nomism in Second Temple Judaisms”
  • Dr. Turner - “Moses on the New Perspective: Does Deuteronomy Teach Covenant Nomism?”

Dr. Ray Legg
read a paper entitled “The Devil’s Advocate? The Vanity of Human Wishes from Solomon to Al Pacino” at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA. The theme of the conference was The Poetics of Conflict and Reconciliation and it was held October 16-18, 2008. Dr. Legg has also been contacted by the on-line journal dulia et Latria for permission to publish his paper.

Dr. Sigrid Luther
accompanied a graduate voice recital at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, November 2.
 
Dr. Jeff Myers has the following schedule:
  • November 15 – Preaching at Sunday morning service, Council for National Policy, Washington, D.C.
  • December 2-3 – Consultants Roundtable, Atlanta, Georgia
  • December 9-14 – Writing trip, Estero, Florida
 
Dr. Mel Wilhoit directed the Bryan Brass Ensemble in leading worship at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton on Sunday, October 26. He also sang with the Chattanooga Bach Choir in its fall concert at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chattanooga on October 26. Dr. Wilhoit’s review of the Chattanooga Symphony’s November 6 concert appeared in the Times-Free Press on November 7.
