Music Performance Scholarship Information

$8,000 Music Performance Scholarship Auditions

Guidelines

Eligibility: These auditions are designed for accomplished musicians who are planning to major in music at Bryan College. The areas of performance are vocal, piano, organ, standard band/orchestral instruments, and classical guitar. To be invited to audition weekend, a student must complete a Bryan College application and be accepted by December 31. This can be begun on-line. Other than the standard admissions requirements, there are no special requirements for GPA or standardized test scores.

Award: The winner of the Music Performance Scholarship Audition will receive an $8000 music scholarship. This will be renewable yearly as long as the recipient is pursuing a music major. Various smaller music scholarships will also be awarded to those who do not receive first place.

Audition: Students should prepare a 15-minute audition consisting of at least 3 selections of a contrasting nature (historic periods; genres for vocalists such as oratorio, musical theater, art song; etc.). Selections need not be memorized but memorization is usually more impressive. A professional accompanist will be provided if needed; pre-recorded accompaniments may also be used. The audition will be held on the stage of Rudd Auditorium on the Bryan College campus during Presidential Weekend in February.
