Mr. Card, whose 1983 song “El Shaddai” was named one of the “365 Songs of the Century” by the Recording Industry Association of America and the National Endowment for the Arts, spoke on the theme of Easter in his three chapel programs.  In addition, he addressed a Commoner Forum on the topic “The Lost Language of Worship” on Tuesday in the Bryan College Library.

Mr. Card’s 2002 book, Scribbling in the Sand, received the Chicago Book Clinic’s “Award of Excellence” in the General Self Help category and Publisher’s Weekly’s Best Religion Book award.

In recent years Mr. Card’s efforts have focused on encouraging community among Christians. His book about the apostle Peter, A Fragile Stone, and an album by the same name, both released in 2003, explore personal interactions that build community.
