Faculty-Staff May news update

Dr. Daryl Charles presented a lecture entitled "Between Pacifism and Militarism: The Abiding Relevance of the Just-War Tradition in a Post-Consensus Era" at King College's Department of Political Science and History on April 20.
Dr. Sigrid Luther conducted spring judging at the following events:
- April 21 - Chattanooga Music Teachers Association 6th and 7th grade auditions
- April 22 - Cadek Conservatory Scholarship Auditions
- April 27 - BCCMS/Rhea Arts Council Community Music Festival (In addition to being a judge, Dr. Luther also coordinated this festival.)
Dean of Community LIfe Mr. Bruce Morgan attended the ReNew Campus Leadership Forum at Cedarville University May 14-15. The focus of the conference was strategizing ways to create ethnically diverse campuses, especially for Christ-centered institutions. In addition, Mr. Morgan, Dr. Jeff Bruehl, and Coach Peter Bollant participated in the Chattanooga Area Senior Olympics 3-on-3 Basketball tournament where their team finished second in their age category for the second straight year.
Director of IT Services Mr. Steve Paulson and IT Network Administrator/Manager Mr. James Sullivan attended the Tennessee Higher Education Information Technology Symposium at Fall Creek Falls April 16‑17.
Adjunct Music Instructor Mrs. Sally Powell was awarded a Teacher Enrichment Grant for summer study by the Music Teachers National Association. Mrs. Powell will use the funding to attend Level I Certification training in Contemporary Commercial Music pedagogy at Shenandoah University in July 2012.
Dr. Fitsimmons presented Mrs. Revis
with a plaque and a check at the staff luncheon.
Library Technical Services Manager Mrs. Polly Revis has been named staff member of the fall.
In presenting the award, Library Director Dr. Gary Fitsimmons said Mrs. Revis is the kind of person who shuns the limelight, preferring to do her job behind the scenes as she works to help the library meet the needs of its patrons.
Coworkers nominate staff members for the honor, and the selection is made by the president’s cabinet.
Dr. Mel R. Wilhoit played trumpet for the Cadek Community Orchestra’s spring concert on April 22 at University of Tennessee Chattanooga's Roland Hayes Concert Hall.
