FAQ: Audio / Visual
i need to arrange for special audio / visual services--who do i contact?Contact the Helpdesk at x333 with any questions you may have. You can also complete the online A/V request form (the form is only accessible from an "on campus" computer). Please provide as much information as possible.
IMPORTANT: You must also reserve the facility with Operations before an A/V request may be honored. Requests are not approved until you receive confirmation.
the vhs/dvd video is projecting on the screen but there is no sound
- Make sure the Volume/Power knob on the large speaker is up at least one-third (this is the primary means of adjusting volume as well).
- Double-click the "Volume Control" icon on the desktop and uncheck any Mute boxes.
the video's sound is distorted
- Double-click the "Volume Control" icon on the desktop.
- Click Options from the menu at the top left of the "Volume Control" window.
- Click Properties
- Click Recording and click OK.
- Click and drag the volume slider bar for the selected channel (usually "Line In") and lower the volume level to decrease the amount of amplification. Close the Recording Control window by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner when you have finished adjusting the volume.
- If the signal becomes clear but too quiet, compensate by increasing the volume on the powered speaker.
sound from the video is playing, but there's no image coming from the projector
- Make sure the LCD projector is ON. You will hear the fan of the projector turn on immediately but the projector will take several seconds to warm up before the image appears.
- Press the VIDEO button on the remote.
- When the video has ended, press RGB1 to display the computer through the projector.
i pressed the off button on the remote and the projector said "function not available"
Wait a few minutes and try again. If you wait several minutes and still have problems, contact the Helpdesk by picking up the hotline phone on the computer desk.
Note: The projector fan will continue to run for a few minutes after the image powers off.
