FAQ: SMARTboards
The following describes a SmartBoard that is operating properly:
- In the lower right corner (just above the place where the communication cable plugs into the bottom of the SmartBoard), you should see a green LED.
- When you lift a pen or the eraser from its tray, the accompanying green LED should turn on. If you take out more than one pen at a time, the green LED will indicate only the last one removed.
- When you touch the SmartBoard, the mouse cursor should appear at your fingertip (when using the projector) and at the corresponding location on the computer monitor.
Possible Problems:
- Computer does not respond to input from the Smartboard and the LED by the cable (lower right-hand corner) is red.
- The green LED does not turn on when I remove a pen or the eraser from the Smartboard tray and all writing is in black regardless of the color stylus I choose.
- The mouse cursor is appearing where I am touching the SmartBoard. It is "missing the mark" by a few inches.
Solution:
Most Smartboard problems are solved by restarting the computer (click "Start" then "Shut Down" and choose "Restart"). It may take more than one reboot for the computer to connect to the Smartboard. Contact the I.T. Helpdesk by lifting the Hotline phone receiver if you require assistance.
