Library to observe Money Smart week
April 08, 2013
Bryan students and the community will have an opportunity to get “Money Smart” the week of April 20 – 27 when the Bryan Library hosts three Money Smart activities.
On Monday, April 22, Dayton resident Debbie McCuiston will present “Redeeming the Dime,” a program on couponing. Ms. McCuiston writes a weekly column in the Rhea Herald-News about couponing, offering practical tips on ways to save money while shopping.
Her presentation will be followed on Tuesday, April 23, with “Win, Save or Earn: Making college affordability a game you can win,” presented by David Haggard, Bryan’s director of financial aid. He will talk about scholarships, strategies for getting scholarships, ways to save and earn money while in school or over the summer.
On Thursday, April 25, Drew and Chelsea Zimmerman, who graduated from Bryan in 2010 with student loans they need to repay, will speak on “Attack of the Loans: Making a ten-year problem a two-year challenge.” They will detail their efforts to repay their loans as quickly as possible.
Money Smart Week was created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2002 to help individuals of all income levels manage their personal finances.
The Bryan College events will be held in Spoede Lounge in the library, beginning at 6:30 p.m., and are open to the public without charge. Refreshments will be served.
