Randi Mellon Honored
November 17, 2004
Randi Mellon was named National Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of November 1, by the National Christian College Athletic Association.
Randi accomplished a rare Triple-Double the week of October 27, and just missed accomplishing the feat three times in a week. Her accomplishment is listed on the AVCA Triple- Double club page. Her Triple-Double was one of only two nationally in the NAIA that week. She joins only 13 others in the NAIA this season to accomplish this feat.
Kills | Hitting Percentage | Errors | Assists | Digs | Final Outcome | |
10/28 vs Covenant College: | 9 | .381 | 1 | 29 | 9 | Bryan won 3-1 |
10/29 vs. Virginia Intermont: | 9 | .391 | 0 | 27 | 10 | Bryan lost 1-3 |
10/30 vs. Milligan: | 10 | .320 | 2 | 29 | 15 | Bryan won 3-1 |
That particular week, Randi had to step up and become an attack option as well as the setter, due to injuries on the team. She is the team leader both athletically and spiritually, and leads by example both on and off the court. She is also a member of the Bryan Women's Basketball team, which is ranked #10 in the NAIA.
Randi finished her season as the second-year captain, school assist leader, and a three-time all conference setter.
King College won the AAC Tournament.
