Bryan Drops Home Match
November 2, 2004
Bryan College dropped its home match to visiting Martin Methodist, 23-30, 23-30, 34-36 Tuesday night.
Despite a solid match from Abby Humphrey (16 kills, 8 digs, 3 aces) and Randi Mellon (32 assists, 8 kills, 2 aces), the Lions could not overcome their own mistakes in games 1-2. "We committed 7 key mental errors in both of the first games. It is hard to win if you are not playing well mentally," said Coach Sayles.
Freshmen Leah White and Christy Maraman came off the bench to help stabilize Bryan with 6 kills combined in game three. Bryan had several chances to finish the game with a 29-25 lead, but could not find a way to put the game away, and Martin Methodist chipped away at the lead, finally putting the match away at 36-34.
Bryan is now 10-15 overall, and hosts Brevard Friday night at 7:00, and Montreat Saturday at 4:30.
