Bryan Loses Against UVA-Wise
October 8, 2004
The Lady Lions fell to visiting University of Virginia-Wise Friday in three games (30-17, 30-20, 30-24). Wise, currently second in the Appalachian Athletic conference relied on solid front row play to control the game against the smaller Lions team.
For Bryan, Kim Barlow had 6 kills and 3 blocks, while Randi Mellon dished 25 assists and Rebecca Rusch tallied 6 kills and 16 digs.
"We were beaten by the better team ," Coach Leo Sayles said. "I give my girls credit, though. We played a pretty good game, but every time we stepped up our effort and execution, Wise always had an answer. I told my team not to hang their heads after this game. Wise is just playing better than us right now. They are well - prepared and very athletic." The loss drops Bryan to 5-5 in conference, 6-6 overall.
