Team Effort Carries BC

A solid team effort carried the Bryan College volleyball team to a 4-game win against Tennessee Wesleyan.

Senior Captain Randi Mellon led the Lady Lions to victory at TWC. Mellon had 43 assists, 5 digs ,and 3 aces to pace a balanced attack for the Lady Lions. Senior Rebecca Rusch had another big night against the Lady Bulldogs, recording her second double-double night with 17 kills, 13 digs, and 2 blocks.

Bryan maintained control of the tightly fought match, keeping the lead through most of the first two games. The much-improved Bulldogs came back with a solid effort in game three, and put up a good fight in the fourth game before Bryan was able to build a 4 - point run to take a late lead.

Freshman Kathryn Rawley had another consistant night, hitting 13 kills with no errors, and serving without error. MB Kim Barlow contributed 10 kills and 3 blocks to the effort, supported by the defensive work of Libero Christine Pratt (16 digs, .875 reception pct., 14-14 serving).

The Lions host rival Covenant for their homecoming match on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7:00 p.m.

Injury report: Senior OH Catherine Strode has been cleared to play in the Covenant game on Friday. She will also sing the National Anthem.

Freshman Jackie Holubz was placed on the injured list due to a lingering elbow injury. Freshman Leah White is nursing a slight back injury.
