Volleyball Team Gaining Respect

September 14, 2004

Despite a rough start to the season due to injuries, Bryan's Volleyball team is earning respect in the eyes of its peers. The team edged its way into the Region XII top ten ranking this week because of its strength of schedule in conference play and respect expressed by opposing coaches. Although results may not have shown up yet in the win/loss column, conference coaches are beginning to take notice of our fine team. Milligan's Coach Hyatt gave the girls a high compliment when she said she was surprised King beat Bryan, and fully expected the Lions to take both King and Union in later matches this year.

Randi Mellon was cleared to play in tonight's game against Tennessee Wesleyan. She will share setting duties with Kathryn Rawley, and will have her first experience as an Outside Hitter. Catherine Strode will see action tonight as well, as a libero. Christine Pratt will be the reserve setter, ready to back up Mellon should there be any residual pain after Saturday's injury. Freshman Opposite Leah White will see her first start tonight as well. Hopefully, Bryan will see the results of their hard work in the win column as well after tonight.

Upcoming games:
TN Temple University at Bryan's Summers Gymnasium on Tuesday, September 21 at 7:00pm.
This weekend's away games have been postponed due to inclement weather associate with hurrican Ivan.
