Bryan falls to 4th seed for AAC tourney

October 22, 2006

Bryan College suffered two disappointing losses this week that assured them of a fourth seed at this weekend's AAC Tourney. The Lions' record now stands at 9-5-2 (4-2-1 AAC) on the season.

On Oct. 18, the Lions traveled to Milligan College and lost 4-1 as Milligan clinched the regular season championship with the win. The lone goal for the Lions came from defender Nate McCown off a corner kick as he headed it into the bottom right side of the net in the second half, cutting the score to 2-1. However the Buffaloes quickly answered with a goal of their own and maintained the lead until the final whistle.

On Oct. 21, the Lions headed to Montreat College in a game with huge playoff implications. When the game was called after ninety minutes, the Lions left the field with a 2-1 loss and Montreat clinched a #2 seeding at this weekend's AAC tourney. Jota da Silva scored the Lion's lone goal as he struck a right-footed blast from the top of the box which found the top right hand corner of the net, with the goalkeeper clearly beaten. However, it wasnt enough as the Lions couldn't equalize in the final minutes.

Bryan looks forward to a game at Union (KY) on Tuesday and then returns to host Virginia Intermont on Saturday as the AAC Tournament will get underway.
