Department of Politics and Government News

  • Jonathan Barnett, a senior Politics and Government major from Fayetteville, NC, was awarded a coveted 10 week internship this past summer, with the U.S. Department of State.  He worked in the Executive Office of the U.S. Embassy in Nassau, The Bahamas, in the Political Section.  He had the oppurtunity to help plan and execute two large scale events:
    • An international alternative energy conference, hosted by the U.S. Embassy, whose guest speakers included such people as the governor of Hawaii, Linda Lingle, and the Undersecretary of State for Global Affairs, Paula Dobriansky.
    • The annual 4th of July Celebration held at the Ambassador's residence.  Special guests included the Governor General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Hank Aaron, and Sheila Raye Charles.
