Bryan defeats Intermont
December 11, 2006The Bryan men's basketball team won their first conference game this season in a 66-63 decision over Virginia Intermont College.
Bryan surged to a 27-16 lead with 7 minutes remaining in the first half behind the shooting of Kyle Terry and the point guard play of Alex White. Jerome Stancil also made some big baskets early.
Virginia Intermont made a late run and grabbed a 35-32 lead before Bryan made two baskets just before half, including a put back by Versell Wells as the half expired.
Virginia Intermont came on strong and led 54-44 with just over 9 minutes remaining but a dunk and a three-point basket by Versell Wells led a charge that would give Bryan a lead they would not relinquish. Versell Wells had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Alex White had 16 points, Tyler Cooke had 11, Kyle Terry had 10 while Jerome Stancil had 7 points and 8 rebounds.
