Bryan loses conference opener

Bryan went on the road to UVA-Wise on Tuesday night and lost 73-51.

Bryan got off to a slow start and shot the ball poorly for the game. Wise out shot Bryan 55% to 33%. After trailing 17-3 out of the gate Bryan made a run behind the play of Versell Wells and Richard Stapleton and cut the lead to 26-21. But Bryan had 3 turnovers after Wise went zone and Bryan trailed 35-23 at the half.

In the second half UVA-Wise built the lead even more as Bryan simply could not get untracked offensively. Despite getting 10 more shots from the field and 1 more freethrow attempt the Lions did not shoot the ball with any consistency.

For the game Versell Wells had 18 points and 7 rebounds while Tyler Cooke finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds. Jerome Stancil had 7 rebounds for the game off the bench.
