Bryan plays against inmates from Silverdale Detention Center

July 15, 2008

The Bryan College men’s basketball team played against inmates from the Silverdale Detention Center in Chattanooga, TN this past weekend.  It’s an experience the team looks forward to participating in a couple of times a year.  The team enjoyed playing and meeting inmates from the prison.  The game was four twelve minute quarters and the Lions won 70-52.  Sophomore Derek Batt stood out as he played well on both ends of the court. Freshman Xavarien McCall and sophomore Damond Craig each contributed in the backcourt while sophomore Scott Newton was a big presence inside.  Senior Kyle Terry hit a couple of three’s to help build a secure lead in the fourth quarter.  With coaches and players the team had twenty people involved overall.  The gospel was shared with the inmates at halftime and it was evident to the team how appreciative everyone was that they had come to play.
