Lions Taste Success on Day Two of Niswonger Invitational
January 20, 2008Johnson City, TN - Day two produced two NAIA indoor qualifying marks and one school record for the track Lions.
The men's distance medley relay finished 2nd to Virginia Commonwealth University in a new school record, as well as a qualifying mark for the indoor championships with a time of 10:27.92. Sophomore Josh Bradley anchored the relay which included three freshmen athletes in Zach Mobley, Drew Nunnelly and Bryson Harper.
Sophomore Daniel Goetz (Chattanooga, TN) qualified for the indoor championships after finishing 8th in the men's 3k Invitational race with a time of 8:44.65.
Earlier in the day, freshmen Bryson Harper (Pikeville, TN) set a personal best in section two of the unseeded men's 800 meter run when he finished second in 1:59.53. Freshmen Hunter Hall (Brentwood, TN) finished 5th in section two of the men's mile with an indoor best of 4:41.65.
"It was a productive weekend for our young athletes. They competed well and these races are somewhat of a measuring stick. Our training is going well and they'll continue to improve." Said coach Rodney Stoker.
The Lions will compete again in two weeks when they travel to Bloomington, Indiana for the Indiana University's Relays on February 1st and 2nd.
