Community Life Standards
At Bryan College, we believe that a complete education cannot be achieved unless one possesses a sense of individual responsibility and personal honor. Specific college values and guidelines are stipulated in the Community Life Handbook and the college catalog.
Higher standards are all a part of a higher form of higher education. No drinking. There's a dress code. Students are expected to attend chapel each week. High standards, but that's what it means to live, work, and study in the Christian community that is Bryan College.
We understand that legalism is unhealthy and detrimental to spiritual and intellectual growth, so we view these standards as reasonable expectations that are appropriate for institutional effectiveness.
Since the Bible is not specific on all matters of human behavior, Christian communities historically have followed diverse practices in a number of areas such as dress, entertainment and separation. Each Christian community will have its own norms and standards which reflect its interpretation of Scripture, its response to its cultural environment and its tradition, and that is true of Bryan College as well.
We urge you to review Bryan's Community Life Handbook to understand exactly what Bryan expects from those who are part of its community.
