Types of Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Office assists students by awarding financial aid to help pay for educational expenses.  Financial aid is available from federal, state and private resources.  There are four primary types of financial aid programs.
  • Federal and State Aid – Gift aid that is awarded based on demonstrated financial need. Grants do not have to be repaid. (IMPORTANT NOTE:  Federal need-based aid or state aid is available only to undergraduate students).
  • Loans – Funds that are borrowed to help pay for educational expenses.  Loans must be repaid, usually with interest.
  • Employee Reimbursement – Certain employer’s reimburse education expenses. Contact your company's human resource office to investigate this source of financial assistance.
  • Veterans’ Benefits – Funds are provided by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
