Matt Williams
Matt Williams ("Matty")
Resident Director, H.D. Long Hall
Spouse: Kati Williams
Hometown: Decatur, Georgia
College Attended: Bryan College
Education: B.A. in English Literature
Hobbies/Sports: Playing sports and rooting for Georgia Tech athletics, anything outdoors-related like hiking or camping, card games, writing, traveling, good conversation and discovering unique eating establishments.
A word that best describes you: Simmering
Favorite quote: “If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts or heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well.” ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Favorite food: Give me pretty much anything Mexican and I’ll be happy.
Favorite tv show or movie: Lost and Law & Order
Favorite music or band: I appreciate most music but I can't go wrong with Rich Mullins, Switchfoot, or U2.
What do you like about being a resident director at Bryan: I love the fact that I get to live out my life as a Christian man in front of young men who are changing and growing every day. To have the constant opportunity to speak into their lives is humbling.
Interesting fact about your building: H.D. Long, built in 1964, was originally built as a men’s residence hall, but has spent almost as much time serving as a women’s residence hall over the years. The building changed back to a full-time men’s hall in the fall of 2006.
Best residence life memory from college: (W/E) Long Third beatdowns (Pro. 20:30) and late-night conversations about both the serious and the trivial.
Any random fact about yourself: My family had horrible luck with pets when I was growing up. One dog jumped off a bridge, another hung himself with his leash while freaking out in a thunderstorm and another's stomach "spontaneously flipped" internally one day and he "imploded" (doctor's words...not mine).
Which Biblical figure do you relate to the most: Peter
Legos or Lincoln Logs: Legos
What you love about Bryan and its students: I believe Bryan is special because it encourages students to grow holistically in all aspects of life. Students don’t leave with just a book knowledge of their major but hopefully with an accurate understanding of the world around them and a better idea of who they are as people.
