We started the Hilltop Players 2007 - 2008 season with a recreation of Shakespeare's comedy on the wooing and wedding characteristic of the 16th century. The Taming of the Shrew was performed on the mainstage (Rudd Auditorium) Nov. 1, 2 and 3, 2007, at 7:30 pm.

Our January dessert theatre production in Brock Hall was a more recent addition to the musical theatre genre. The Hilltop Players produced The Spitfire Grill: A Musical Jan. 28 - Feb. 2, 2008. This delightful small musical is all about finding acceptance, redemption, and love in the most unlikely place.

April 17-19, 2008, brought us back to Rudd Auditorium with the production of the hilarious mystery comedy The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, by John Bishop.  The scene: the snow-surrounded suburban estate of a potential backer for a new musical. The setting: a mansion filled to the brim with sliding panels and secret corridors. The characters: a scatterbrained hostess, a pompous film director with a penchant for name-dropping, a zany librettist, a sinister German maid, a small-time comedian with an incredible supply of bad jokes, some Nazi saboteurs and an Irish cop. The results: dead bodies, a blizzard of mayhem, inexhaustible suspects and a sidesplitting comedy.
