Bryan started strong and kept the Bulldogs in their own half early. Their pressure would pay off when a generous error by Goalkeeper Eric Achcraft gave Manoel Silva a simple finish to put the Lions in the lead 1-0 in the 8th minute of play. Only six minutes later, Scott Davidson struck, off an assist by Curt Hays, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead which would stay that way throughout the half.
The game settled in and Union continued to hang around but created few dangerous opportunities due to the defensive efforts of O'Kane, McCown, Carmichael, Simon, and Wagley with Sanchez in between the pipes. The play was quite sloppy for the most part with both teams struggling to maintain possession. With 24 minutes remaining in the second half, Jota da Silva fired a shot that was saved by the Bulldogs substitute keeper but the rebound was followed up by Scott Davidson who finished for the second time on the evening. Five minutes later, freshman Reggie Parks handled a cross from Daniel O'Kane with his head, nodding it down beautifully to a running Jacobo Gallardo who hit a left-footed, one-time shot past a diving Bulldogs keeper. With ten minutes remaining in the match, Union striker Adam Woodard recieved a through ball on the run and finished a one-on-one opportunity with Goalkeeper Josh Courtwright, pulling a goal back for the Union side.
The Bryan Lions are now 10-1 (3-0 AAC) on the season and travel to King College on the 29th of September in a clash which will be pivotal within the conference.
