How to Setup Vista’s Windows Mail to Access Your Bryan Mail

  1. Open Windows Mail to begin the setup.
  2. In Windows Mail click Tools, Accounts.
  3. Click Add…
  4. Select “Email Account” and click Next
  5. Type your name in the Display Name. Click Next.
  6. Type your email address in the email address box. Next.
  7. Choose POP3 or IMAP. Side note. POP3 by default downloads and removes your email from the server. IMAP synchronizes your mail.
  8. If you choose POP3 or IMAP put mail.bryan.edu in the incoming mail box.
  9. Put smtp.bryan.edu in the outgoing mail server box. Click Next.
  10. Put your BryanNet username in the Account name box.
  11. Put your password in the password box. Next
  12. Click Finish.
  13. Then click mail.bryan.edu and then click Properties.
  14. Click the Server tab and check the box under Outgoing mail server that says "My server requires authentication."
  15. Then click the Advanced tab.
  16. Check the box under Outgoing mail that says "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)."
  17. Check the box under Incoming mail that says "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)."
  18. Click OK.
  19. Click Close.
  20. Click Send/Recv to download your mail.
