How to archive E-Mail (Faculty or Staff)

I am a Faculty or Staff member, how do I archive my old e-mails?

1. Open Outlook

2. Click on File, then Archive:



3. Select the folder you would like to archive, as well as the date parameters that you would like to follow, and the location for your archive file to be stored, then click OK:



4. Outlook will now archive your files.

5. Once the archive is complete, you can open the archive file and view it by clicking on File, then Open, then Outlook Data File.

6.  Close Outlook and burn the archive file to a CD or DVD to prevent data loss in the event of hard drive failure.  If additional items are added to the archive folder, it is important to burn the archive to CD or DVD periodically.  If you need assistance backing up your archive Outlook data file to CD or DVD, please contact the IT Services Helpdesk.
