November 29, 2007November 29, 2007
St. Paul, MN--The Lady Lions Volleyball players joined together with the 7 other teams represented at the NCCAA National Tournament to give to the Minneapolis/St. Paul community Wednesday night. All 8 tournament teams met at the Salvation Army regional office complex and joined together to complete several projects. Members from each team were intermingled as the group completed tasks during the evening. Players helped in several capacities:
· Players wrapped Christmas gifts for the Salvation Army’s ‘Adopt A Family’ program
· Players made phone calls and entered data for the Salvation Army “Toys for Kids” Christmas campaign.
· Players sorted material for the prison ministry
· Calendars were wrapped for the area senior care centers
· Players made Christmas cards for servicemen, needy children, and families.
The combined effort resulted in over 250 work-hours of service for the Salvation Army. The players may never know the impact they have had upon the host community, but all participants diligently gave of themselves to those in need.
The teams will celebrate together at the tournament brunch, and competition will begin Thursday afternoon as the Lady Lions take on the tournament host, Northwestern College at 3:30 PM.
