Lions Struggle At Home, Fall To King 64-45

January 24, 2008

Dayton, TN—Wednesday night’s game was one the Bryan Lions hope to soon forget. Facing off against AAC #2 King College at home, the Lions fell behind early as they struggled to score, and never really recovered. With Starting Forward Cody Christopher on the bench with an injury, the Lions were forced to start a smaller lineup, and the Tornado took advantage of the mismatches all night long.
The Lions shot only 27% from the floor in the first half, while holding king just under 50% and trailed by 20 at the break, 35-15. King used their deep bench to keep fresh legs on the court all night, and the tired, depleted Lions could not get their legs under them.
The second half was all King as well, as the lead was extended to 24 points, and hovered around 20 for the remainder of the game. The Lions just could not seem to get anything going offensively as they appeared out of sync and frustrated. Kyle Terry tried to get the Lions back in the game, hitting two 3’s late in the second half, but King was too much for the Lions to overcome. The Lions didn’t give up, cutting the lead to 19, but that was as close as they would come, eventually losing 64-45. It was a night that is out of character for the Lions, who usually get balanced offensive production and play solid, stingy defense. The Lions now drop to 8-12 overall and 2-7 in the AAC.
The team will look to regroup as they prepare for the UVA-Wise Cavaliers on Saturday. The game will be played in Wise, VA and Tip-Off is scheduled for 6PM.
