Katie Davis' 25 Second-Half Points Not Enough Against Tournament Hosts
December 29, 2007
Lake Wales, FL—The Hampton Inn Classic has not been kind to the Lady Lions of Bryan College as the team suffered its’ third straight loss tonight to Warner Southern College, 70-55. After shooting just 40% in the first half, the Lady Lions trailed by 17 heading into halftime and looking to rebound and salvage their trip to Florida with a 1-2 record.
The team battled in the second half, outscoring their opponents 33-31 in the second half, largely on the shoulder of Katie Davis who went off for 23 of her team-high 25 points in the second frame. Davis’ effort however, was not enough as Kendall Heath scored 26 for the victors en route to the 15 point victory.
Apart from Davis, the Lions were cold offensively and managed only one second half field goal finishing the night shooting just 29%. The loss culminated a disappointing road trip for the Lady Lions who have dropped 4 straight dating back to their heartbreaking 1 point loss at home to NAIA #3 Freed Hardeman.
The Lions did force Warner Southern into 25 turnovers and trailed in the rebounding column by only one, but they failed to convert offensively and it was their downfall. The Lady Lions now head back to school where they will take on the Milligan College Lady Buffaloes to begin the second half of the season. Bryan’s record now stands at 4-9 and 2-2 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play. The team will look to turn things around as they make a push for a good finish in conference.
