Lady Lions Excel in the Classroom

Dayton, TN (6/5/08) – Following up a strong first semester academically, the women’s basketball team at Bryan College duplicated its’ success. The Lady Lions achieved a 3.36 grade point average for the second semester. Of the 14 varsity players, twelve of them had a grade point average of 3.0 or better. Nine of those twelve student-athletes had a 3.5 or better.

“I am very proud of our ladies”, said head coach Jamy Bechler. “Our players take their academics seriously. We emphasize life skills and preparing to be successful in all areas of life. Taking care of business in the classroom is a testament to these student-athletes and their desire to be successful. With the amount of time and energy they put forth to play college basketball, to earn such high marks is really quite an accomplishment. Participating in collegiate athletics is essentially working a full-time job.”
