Last night the men's and women's basketball teams hosted "Midnight Madness" to showcase their talents and abilities.  This event kicks off the season with some fun and gets everyone excited about the upcoming season.  Players and fans participated in the various contests and games.  Several prizes were won in the competitions, which lasted from 10:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Everyone enjoyed the show!

Of all the players' activities, the fan favorite is always the Slam Dunk contest.  Derek Batt, Cody Christopher, D.J. Scheidt, and Tyler Boyd competed in this contest, though Dominique Clements won the coveted title of "Slam Dunk Champion."

Another event for the players is the 3-point competition.  Katie Davis was the hot-hand for the women's team, while Kyle Terry won the contest for the men's team.  The two of them squared off to see who really was "best of the best" with Terry winning it all.

There were also several events for the fans, including Musical Chair Layup and Knock-Out.  However, the biggest fan contest of the night was the opportunity for one lucky student to shoot a basketball from half court.  If the student made the shot, he or she would receive a $10,000 prize.  Unfortunately, the shot fell short.

The evening concluded with the men's basketball team splitting into two teams for a 5-minute scrimmage.  The team wearing black won the scrimmage, led by Demond Craig and Cody Christopher.  The stand-outs for the opposing team were Scott Newton and Dominique Clements.
