Tonight the men's soccer team traveled to Cleveland, TN, to take on the Lee University Flames. This was the Lions' first scrimmage of the year. The scrimmage was three 30-minute periods. The second period was called five minutes early due to lightning, at which point the score was still 0-0. Once the coaches and officials decided that it was safe to play again, the Lions came out ready to attack. About midway throught the third period, the Lions were awarded a corner kick. The ball was played in beautifully as Nate McCown came flying in for a diving header for the scrimmage's only goal. It was a good first look and a big win for the Lions. With several new players, including a few who arrived in just the last couple of days, the Lions are still learning to play together. They showed lots of promise, and this should be a very fun and exciting season.
