Alison Young Selected AAC Player Of The Week

For the second consecutive week, a Bryan College volleyball player was named the AAC Player of the week.  Sophomore Outside Hitter Alison Young has started the season with strong numbers, but her play Saturday carried the Lions to a 3-0 victory over Montreat College (25-14, 25-19, 29-27).  Young was unstoppable, drilling 17 kills on 29 attempts with no errors for a .586 hitting percentage.  Young also achieved her third double-double of the season with 10 digs in the match.  Young currently leads the AAC in hitting percentage (.316) and is third in the AAC in kills per game (2.8 kpg).  She is hitting .438 with 26 kills in Bryan’s two AAC victories.  “Alison was a solid hitter for us last season, but has emerged as one of our key terminal hitters,” commented Bryan’s head coach Leo Sayles.  “She has added power to her hitting arsenal, is a very intelligent and skilled player, and is emerging as a team leader.  Her teammates respect her, and she is gaining the respect of other teams as well.”

The Lions are currently 2-0 in the AAC, 7-2 overall.  The team will host Tennessee Wesleyan College Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
