October 14, 2008For the first time since the 2003 season, Bryan cracked the NAIA top 25, being ranked 22nd in the nation on Tuesday. Losing only 2-1 Saturday to the #7 ranked team in the nation in the NCAA Div II helped catapult the Lions to this ranking. The Lions are still ranked #1 in the nation in the NCCAA Div I for the 6th consecutive week. In the NCCAA, the Lions are also ranked 3rd in points per game and 1st in goalkeeping. There are several players still ranked nationally in the NCCAA for their play:
- Carlos "Jota" Pedro da Silva - 11th in points per game & 11th in goals per game
- Raphael Correa - 13th in points per game & 12th in goals per game
- Lyle Gifford - 9th in assists per game
- Josh Courtright - 2nd in goals against average
The Lions were 10-1-1 going into this week's rankings. They will be taking on Union College and Milligan College this week. Bryan will try to remain #1 in the NCCAA and also continue climbing up the rankings in the NAIA.
