Bryan College’s MB Robin Renfroe continues to dominate the front line, guiding the Lions to a 3-match sweep last week.  For her work, Renfroe was named the AAC Player of the week and is nominated for the NAIA national player of the week.

Renfroe collected 22 kills in the three 3-set sweeps, averaging almost 2 kills for every 3 attempts.  She hit .500 (22 for 36) during the week.  Renfroe controlled the block as well, finishing the week with 1 solo and 11 assisted blocks.  At the service line, Renfroe served 92%, guiding the Lions with key service runs of 7+ services in the wins against Wesleyan and Bluefield.  Since the Sept. 26th loss to King, Renfroe has guided the Lions to an 8-win streak, with 63 kills, hitting .429, and averaging 1.5 blocks a game.  She is currently the top blocker nationally in the NCCAA, and is #12 in blocks in the NAIA.

Bryan’s head coach Leo Sayles commented, “Robin is following the pattern of development we have seen every season with her.  She is a great finisher and just gets stronger as the season goes along.  I am not surprised at her success the past two weeks, as she and setter Hannah Suits have found a rhythm with each other.  Robin and RS Amber Smith put up a formidable block, and Robin has a very tough serve to play.  I hope to see the same success as we travel to the Midwest this week.”

The Lady Lions, now 18-3 overall (12-1 in conference) take a break from AAC action to travel to Iowa and Illinois for several high-powered matches.  The team will return to AAC action Oct. 24 and 25, when they host Virginia Intermont, then face off against King College in a match-up between the top two conference teams.
