Game Recaps

The Lions and the Buffs were both sitting at the top of the conference with a record of 4-1 going into the game Saturday night. It was a hard fought, emotional game which was unable to declare a winner after two overtime periods.
The Buffs struck first on a long shot near the sideline that hit the cross bar and the post before bouncing into the goal. The Lions rallied and were able to put two in before the end of the first half. The first came off a long ball thrown in. After two Lions flicked the ball on with their heads, it found Lyle Gifford's feet and he burried it into the back of the net. The second came off of a free kick. The ball was played wide to Gifford, who took it around the wall and played it into the crowd. Raphael Correa attacked the ball and placed it past the keeper to take the lead for Bryan.
The Buffs scored the next two goals to take a 3-2 lead. Late in the second half, the Lions tied the score. Jonathan Houghton played a beautiful in-swinging cross into the box, and Harry Sherwood dove in to head the ball past the keeper. Regulation ended with the score 3-3, and despite great opportunity neither team could find the back of the net during the two overtime periods.
The Lions are now 4-1-1 in the conference. Both the Lions and the Buffs will play Montreat this week, who is 3-1 in the conference.
Bryan's next game will be Wednesday at home against the University of the Cumberlands. Kickoff is scheuduled at 7:00 PM, following a game between the two schools' JV teams.
