The Bryan College Volleyball team was well-represented Thursday night at the AAC Awards Ceremony. The Lions placed six players on the Scholar-Athlete award list (listed below). The only AAC team with more recipients was regular season champion, King College. Bryan's head coach Leo Sayles commented, "I am delighted at our representation on the scholar-athlete team. Our players have dedicated themselves to thrive in the classroom and on the court. I think it is a great testimony to our top two conference teams that we also led the conference in the number of recipients of this great award."
Jessica Kaya was selected to the AAC All-Freshman team, while the Lions placed three players on the AAC All-Conference First Team. Senior MB Robin Renfroe was selected to the first team for the third consecutive season, while former All-Freshman team members OH Alison Young (2007) and OPP Amber Smith (2006) joined Renfroe. ' I am proud of the work these young ladies have put in, and am pleased the coaches in our conference recognized them for their effort as well," commented Coach Sayles.
The AAC #2 seed Lions open tournament play Friday at 11:00, awaiting the winner of the Bluefield-Virginia Intermont match.
