study_shining.jpgThe Management Option provides the knowledge and skills needed to begin a career in the management of most organizations. The work of a business manager involves planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of a company. That work may involve analyzing problems, making decisions, delegating tasks, training and supervising staff, budgeting and coordinating activities.

Managers can be employed in various sectors of the economy (government, private industry, or non-profit organizations). Within any large organization, managers with direct authority for a functional area (accounting, finance, production, or sales) have line management positions.

Management trainee positions are typically available in the banking, hotel/restaurant, insurance, and retail industries. A training program may last from six to twelve months, allowing trainees to experience the various functional areas within a company and permitting line managers in each area to observe their performance. Most people enter management positions with a bachelor’s degree in business. However, a master’s degree, such as the Masters in Business Administration, is essential in some areas for advancement.
