Summers GymnasiumWith a seating capacity of 1,000, this building was constructed as the first unit in a physical education and intramural/intercollegiate sports complex. The present building includes a college tournament‑size rubber‑cushioned, floating maple hardwood basketball playing floor, auxiliary facilities, and locker and shower rooms. In the summer of 1982, an annex was added to the front of the gym which provided a more spacious lobby, four offices, an athletic training room, and additional storage areas and rest rooms.
In 2006-08 further additions were made to the gym to provide a full-service athletic training center for our collegiate athletics programs, and a two-story addition housing offices for all the coaches, a conference room, and new locker rooms for our home teams. Along with those additions, the old athletic training and office space at the front of the gym was converted to exercise and weight rooms available to the entire Bryan community, and the original locker rooms were converted for use by visiting teams.
