Freshmen lead Lions at Southeastern Classic
October 22, 2006Berea, KY - Three Bryan College freshmen led the Lions to a ninth-place finish at the Southeastern Classic Cross Country meet hosted by Berea College. Zach Buffington (Ooltewah, TN), Josh Bradley (Ringgold, GA), and Caleb Morgan (Cleveland, TN) finished 44th, 54th and 61st respectively. Virginia Intermont captured the team title as they were led by David Cheromei's individual win, with a time of 24:53 over the five-mile distance.
The Lions had a solid performance from sophomore Guillermo Loaiza (Cartago, Costa Rica) with a 64th place finish. Rounding out the scoring for Bryan was junior Jason Poarch (Hickory, NC) in 175th place.
"Our men did a great job against some quality teams. I was very pleased with their effort and the outcome. Running without their team leader in Goetz, they showed great patience and maturity, which is what I was hoping for late in the season. Poarch got the opportunity to be our number five athlete today and did a great job running his best race of the season," said head coach Rodney Stoker.
The men travel to Louisville, KY for the AAC Championship and Region XII Championship on November 4th.
