Lions Finish Ninth at Tennessee Invitational
September 16, 2006Maryville, TN - Bryan College's men's cross country team finished ninth among 10 squads competing at the Tennessee Invitational held at the Lamber Acres Golf Club on Friday evening. The men's team championship went to the University of Louisville, as the individual title went to unattached athlete and former Vol Andy Baksa, who covered the 8.4k course in 26:39. The Lions were led by sophomore Daniel Goetz (Chattanooga, TN), who finished 30th overall in 28:25.
"It was a tough day for all our men. The course was challenging, but we expect more out of our athletes. The positive side of it is they kept competing even when things didn't go their way. Early season meets sometimes don't go according to plan, but we should have them ready to go in a few more weeks. Hopefully they'll come away stronger and more focused the next time we compete," stated Head Coach Rodney Stoker.
The Lions will next compete at the Overhill Invitational 5k held at Hiwassee College on September 23rd.
