Practical Christian Involvement

As an essential outworking of Spiritual Formation, Practical Christian Involvement exists to cultivate a lifestyle of service as a response to and an expression of the Gospel. The true Servant, Jesus, called his followers to imitate Him by serving their neighbors with time, talents, skills, and words.

Opportunities for Students to Love, Learn About, and Serve Off-Campus Spheres

  • Spring Conference, featuring a theme that explores the Gospel in action around the world, opens each spring semester.
  • The PCI Ministry Teams include fourteen student-led ministry teams that creatively volunteer in local and global communities through specific means, such as tutoring, drama, visiting prisons, and supporting orphans. Click the link above to see a list of ministries and how you can be involved.
  • MLK Community Service Day hosts community-wide projects that practically serve individuals, families, churches, and non-profit groups in Rhea County and surrounding counties. Classes are cancelled so that the entire campus - students, faculty, and staff - can take part.
  • Break for Change is a short-term mission trip program that sends student teams to work with long-term partners of Bryan College during Spring Break.
  • The Acts Project enables students of any major to deepen their understanding of and experience in missions through highly-interactive class discussions and a two to six month internship with a local Christian community somewhere around the world. Students learn from believers who serve Christ around the world, and apply their chosen vocation in a ministry context.

Moments in PCI History

Occasionally, students involved in PCI get a chance to serve the national community: in October 2005, eighty students and faculty spent their Fall Break in Baton Rouge to aide in Hurricane Katrina Relief. Click to read more.
