Most of the finishing touches for the new entrance will be in place by Homecoming, Vice President of Operations Tim Hostetler said. Work on the intersection with U.S. 27 is all that remains after that.

Workers have placed the gravel base for the portion of Landes Way between Richland Street and U.S. 27. The rock pile in the foreground separates the construction area from the highway right of way.

Landes Way will be paved from Richland Street to the campus, and the portion from Richland Street to the U.S. 27 right-of-way will have a base coat of asphalt in time for ribbon-cutting festivities on Oct. 2.

“We’re planning to have the entrance gates and brickwork at the roundabout completed, and the street lights up along Landes Way,” Mr. Hostetler said. “The intersection on U.S. 27 will be completed on the department of transportation’s schedule.”

He said college and city officials met with representatives of the Tennessee Department of Transportation recently to press their case for an early completion of the project. “They understand our desire for expediting this project,” he said.
