Dayton’s musical holiday season kicks off Friday, December 3, with “Rejoice!” a concert featuring Bryan College and community vocal and flute ensembles.

The Bryan College Women’s Chorus and Community Children’s Choir, both directed by Mrs. Kim Keck; the Community Youth Choir, directed by Mrs. Sally Powell; and the Bryan Flute Choir, directed by Dr. Mel Wilhoit, will perform selections from across music history. Madrigals and traditional carols to modern holiday favorites are on the program.

“This concert is the perfect opportunity for families to celebrate the start of the Christmas season,” Mrs. Powell said. “What better way to welcome December than to spend an evening smiling over holiday favorites like ‘Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire’ and reflecting on the gift of our Savior through pieces like ‘Adoramus Te.’”

The free concert will be presented at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1161 Hiwassee Highway (State Route 60) east of Dayton, beginning at 7:30 p.m. A reception will follow.
